When you hear reduce, reuse, recycle, what do you think of? A hippy that hasn’t showered in a week to conserve water? Or a crazy environmental conspiracist that believes that we should live in treehouse communities? Actually, it’s neither. In the lovely Bay Area of sunny California these shops that feature nothing but reduced, reused, or recycled products are being situated in places that are next to high-end stores such as Nordstrom and Coach. We are lucky to say that we are the host to the first Thred Up (thredup.com) store in the state of California in Walnut Creek. This outstanding company (which is currently featured on the site, so you should go check it out!) where you can buy high-end secondhand clothes, or even sell your gently used clothes and earn some cash or store credit. A brick and mortar pop that also just came to Walnut Creek is called Union & Fifth (unionandfifth.com). This eco-fabulous store gives the customers the opportunity to buy their favorite designers up to 90% off. Seems too good to be true? They also donate 75% of their net revenue to the charity of the donor’s choice (that’s you!). Who knew going green would be so cool?
Thred Up, coming soon!
Union & Fifth, temporary brick and mortar, here until October!
